High Point Pizza

Courtney reviewed High Point Pizza over five years ago, and despite her pretty decent review, I have to admit I never tried it for myself or took the monkeys. I have no idea why.
While researching my Buffalo Pie story for the Flyer, I fell in love with their Buffalo Chicken Supreme pizza. So, naturally, I had to round up Warren and Jiro (age 9) and eat another one as soon as possible. (Satchel, age 11, was at a sleepover.)
I relly love the location, just a block off of the Shelby Farms Greenline. I will find it hard not to make a detour the next time I go for a bike ride or run.
I also like that they have outdoor seating.
And they have great specials (which they post on Facebook too).
The minute you walk in, you can see that they serve children on a regular basis.
We went on a Saturday night around 6:00pm and there was a good crowd, but it wasn't crowded yet. (By the time we left it was a full house.) You order at counter, so we went right up and placed ours. I knew what I wanted, but since Warren isn't a big fan of buffalo chicken pizza, he needed a minute. I tried to steer him towards the pork and greens pizza, but ultimately he decided he wanted a muffaletta. Jiro, who had actually had a pre-dinner snack, said he would just share what we ordered. I was kind of bummed that Satchel wasn't with us since they not only had an artichoke dip appetizer, they had a special pasta with muchrooms and artichoke hearts. He LOVES artichokes. Oh well.
We placed our order, filled up our reusable plastic cups, and took a seat.
I immediately regretted not ordering a beer, but I stuck with my soda. Football was on the big screen TV, so I asked Jiro if he wanted to play a video game.
They have the old school console table machines (technically a Multicade Pac Man Plus) and Jiro got a real kick out of it. "How is this a video game?" he wondered. Then when I kicked his ass at Ms. Pac Man he marvelled, "How are you so good at this?" It was pretty awesome.
I probably would have dropped many a quarter into the machine, but our food came out super fast. The Buffalo Chicken Supreme was as beautiful and delicious as ever.
To quote myself: Its base is a regular cheese pizza with red sauce. On top is cubed chicken breast, crumbled Gorgonzola cheese, and several swirls of a housemade Sriracha ranch dressing.
The pizza has a nice heat from the Sriracha, and the red sauce is an added bonus. The Gorgonzola definitely elevates it above an average Buffalo chicken pizza.
The muffaletta was also quite handsome.
Warren gave it two thumbs up.
We could not interest Jiro in trying either of our yummy dinners. He claimed to be full, until we started talking about dessert. High Point has Italian ice, which I love, but it was hard to pass up the South Pacific Tiramisu special: chocolate soaked lady fingers layered with fresh pineapple filling and coconut marscapone. Yum!
Jiro loved it an noted, "This is healthy and non healthy at the same time." He also thought that it was a steal at $4.99.
This town has a riduculous amount of good pizza, and High Point should definitely be counted among the top picks due to its great location, great service, and great taste. We'll be back!

High Point Pizza is GREAT; just what a local pizza place should be. And the small neighborhood shopping center it is located in is also fantastic (they even have a small, but terrific grocery store). Especially recommended: just behind Highpoint Pizza there is an awesome traditional barber shop. I highly recommend it.
Sounds great, it's good to know they have great dishes that aren't pizza.
